Crochet Baby Hooded Cowl Tutorial




Hello every one! Today we share my new baby hooded cowl. This adorable and stylish design made for little ones. It’s a very special gift for cute and lovely little babies for winter to protect them form the chilly. We love crocheting to make baby items in whole of the years. All my design made for beginner and for those who want to make baby things in home. Thanks so much for all your support and excitement about my previous patterns and videos’ we couldn’t do it without you!
I in future we adding more special design for winter. Free crochet pattern originally share in my blog and website. Hope you will be enjoying my new ideas with simple pattern and share the same videos too.

Instructions:  We create this baby hooded cowl for 3-6 months. It can be easy to change in many other sizes as you want to make. We adding 2 of the colors double knit 4 ply 100 % acrylic and 4mm crochet hook. Size of the length we mention in the below description in the video instructions. First time we added the stars stitch in my things, hop you enjoy my way to create a star in the cowl, for more help watch my video instructions.

Item to be need:
Baby pink and silver grey color baby Double Knit 4ply yarn (100 % acrylic)
Crochet hook size (G 6 or 4.00 mm)
Medium size 2 buttons
Crochet needle

Size:   3-6 month’s baby
Gauge:  4 dc x 2 row = 1 inch
Special stitch:
1.       Count stitches and do stitch marker on the same place.
2.       Ch2 &ch1 do not count.
3.       Check out the size of the cowl before sewing.

Pattern:
Hood:
Round1:     make ch 44, dc in 4th ch, dc in each ch across, turn. (42)
Round2:     ch2, dc in same st, dc in each st across to end, turn. (42)
Round3-10:  repeat (Rnd 2)

Sewing:   fold hood in half way right side facing together, 1 slst in each st across to sew the hood top.
Fasten off

Cowl:

Color A:

To start with a star stitch pattern:
Chain: any number of chains required (multiples of 2)

Round1:      make ch 20, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, pull up a loop through, insert hook in each next 3 ch,s and pull up a loops, we have 5 loops  on hook, yarn over and pull through all loops, work  1 ch  to close the 1st star st. To work next star *insert hook into eye of the stitch and pull up a loop, insert hook into base of the previous star and pull up a loop, insert hook in each of next 2 ch,s and pull up a loops, we have 5 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through all loops, work 1 ch to close the star st* rpt * to* across to end, hdc in last st, turn.(8 stars)

Round2:     ch2, * make 2 hdc into the (eye) of the previous row*, rpt * to * across to end, hdc in 
last st, Turn. (18 hdc)

Color B:
Round3:     make ch3, insert hook into 2nd ch form hook, pull up a loop, insert hook into next ch and pull up a loop, insert  hook in each of next 2 sts, pull up loops, we have 5 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through all loops, work 1 ch to close the star st. to work next star * insert hook into eye of the stitch and pull up a loop, insert hook into base of the previous star and pull up a loop, insert hook in each of next 2 sts and pull up a loops, we have 5 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through all loops, work 1 ch to close the star st*,  rpt * to* across to end, hdc in last st, turn.(8 stars)

Round4-44:     repeat (Rnd 2 & Rnd 3) change color after making 2 Rows. Fasten off

To sew hood to the cowl:

Sewing:     into wrong side out both of the cowl and hat hold together, leave 4 star st rounds into both side of cowl, stitch marker hood into center and st marker both corner( see video instructions)with tapestry needle and piece of yarn start sewing in one corner to other of the hood. Fasten off

Make edging:     start with color A and join yarn any of the cowl corner, make ch1, 2 sc into corner, 1sc in each st across to the cowl to the hood starting, into 1st row of the hood start *Fp dc in next st, Bp dc in next st* rpt * to * across to the hood, slst to join into 1st sc.
Fasten off. Sew all ends and sew 2 buttons.
