Items to be need:

Wool: 70- 80 Grams #4 Medium Weight/DK weight 4 Ply (16-20 = 4 inches)

Hook size: 4mm (G-6) OR size no/8 

Baby Beanie Size: 0-3 months

Gauge:  4 double crochet stitches x 2 Rows = 1 inch

 Pattern for gauge:  

Hat Circumference = 14-15"  •  Height hat = 6" inches


Baby Beanie Hat 0-3 Months:

Make magic circle OR make chains 5, slip st into 1st ch to make a small ring.

Row1- make ch1 don’t count, make hdc 10 in the circle, slip st join into hdc. (hdc10)

Row2- ch1 don’t count, make 2 hdc in each st around, slip st join into hdc. (hdc 20)

Row3- ch1 don’t count, make 2 hdc into same st, 1 hdc in next st, *2hdc into next st,

1hdc into next st*, repeat from * to * around, slip st join into hdc. (hdc 30)

Row4- ch1 don’t count, *make 2 hdc into same st, 1 hdc in each next 2 sts, *2 hdc into

Next st, 1 hdc in each next 2 sts*, repeat from * to * around, slip st join into hdc. (hdc 40)

Row5- ch1 don’t count, *make 2 hdc into same st, 1 hdc in each next 3 sts, *2 hdc into

Next st, 1 hdc in each next 3 sts*, repeat from * to * around, slip st join into hdc. (hdc 50)

Row6- ch1 don’t count, *make 2 hdc into same st, 1 hdc in each next 4 sts, *2 hdc into

Next st, 1 hdc in each next 4 sts*, repeat from * to * around, slip st join into hdc. (hdc 60)

Repeat increasing Row one more time for 6-12 months sizes. then add the pattern.

Add Pattern:

Row7- ch2 don’t count, 1dc in each st around, slip st join into dc. (dc 60)

Row8- wrong side of hat, ch1 don’t count, make sc in each st around, slip st join into sc.

Turn work.(sc 60)

Row9- Wright side of hat, ch2 don’t count, dc into same st, make *1 FPdc (front post double

crochet) 1 step down in double crochet of row 7, 1 dc into next st*, repeat from * to * around,

slip st join into dc, turn work. (60 stitches)

in Row 9 Remember to always skip one st “behind” FPdc, when working your dc’s,

so that st count stays the same.

Row10- wrong side of hat, ch1 don’t count, make sc in each st around, slip st join into sc.

Turn work.(sc 60)

Row11- Right side of hat, ch2 don’t count, make *1 FPdc (front post double crochet) 

1 step down in the double crochet, 1 dc into next st*, repeat from * to * around, 

slip st join into FP dc, turn work. (60 stitches)

Remember to always skip one st “behind” FPdc, when working your dc’s, so that 

st count stays the same.

Row12- wrong side of hat, ch1 don’t count, make sc in each st around, slip st join 

into sc.Turn work.(sc 60)

Row13- Wright side of hat, ch2 don’t count, dc into same st, make *1 FPdc (front post double

crochet) 1 step down in double crochet, 1 dc into next st*, repeat from * to * around,

slip st join into dc, turn work. (60 stitches)

Remember to always skip one st “behind” FPdc, when working your dc’s, so that 

st count stays the same.

Row14-21: Repeat and follow pattern from "Row 10 to Row 13" as we have done in the hat.

Make Ribbing Hat:

Row22-23: ch1 don’t count, hdc in each st around, slip st join into hdc. (hdc 60)

Change color B:

Row24: ch1 don’t count, hdc in each st around, slip st join into hdc. Fasten off
