Superb Baby Cardigan/Jacket/ Sweater for little girls


Hello Friends and Followers! Today topic is my new project for winter crochet Baby Cardigan Coat with neck Ruffles for little girls 1-2 years sizes, we have done and completed full baby set for little girls new design for fall and winter season include baby top sweater cardigan coat with shoes,pants,and hat. i hope you will love and apperciate. explain in details in the pattern below,showing step by step with the  same video tutorial. you can be easily to change for all sizes as you want to make for babies larger or smaller. you can make with different colors according to your choice larger or smaller sizes for kids. we explain below in my pattern for all sizes as you want make, we mention about for all sizes in my video tutorial to give you most easier to understand the pattern.

instrutions: We use Medium weight #4 yarn or Double Knit weight wool 4ply with 4mm(G-6) crochet hook for this baby  Cardigan coat/ jacket, Size of the baby caridgan jacket is 1-2 years, we mention below in the pattern. we added shells simple stitch for the pattern, it’s very easy to start, we mention below about all sizes, next Project will come another super baby patterns. so, you can follow my other crochet ideas we mention the links.

Item to be need:

Complete Baby set 1-2 years  we used (350-400 Grams #4 Medium Weight or 

DK Weight 4 Ply (16-20 = 4 inches)

Hook size 4mm (G-6)

full set Size :      1-2 years

Pattern Gauge:  4 double crochet stitches x 2 Rows = 1 inch with Hook size 4mm (G-6)

Baby Cardigan Coat complete measurement.

coat jacket from top to bottom length: 14 inches/36-38 cm

chest size baby Cardigan/coat: 22-23 inches/58 cm

sleeve length from under arm to cuffs: 9 inches/23 cm

0-3 months:    chains 40,Hook size 4mm (G-6)

6-12 months: chains 44, Hook size 4mm (G-6)

1-2 years:      chains 48, Hook size 4mm (G-6)

3-4 years:      chains 52, Hook size 4mm (G-6)

5-8 years:      chains 60, Hook size 4mm (G-6)

8-12 years:    chains 64, Hook size 5 mm (H-8)


Pattern Baby Coat/Cardigan jacket 1-2 years:

Make chains 48 = 12 inches

Round1- hdc into 3rd ch from the hook, hdc in each ch across, Turn. (hdc 47)

Round2- ch2 don’t count, *dc in the next 2 sts, 2 dc into next st*, Repeat from * to * across,

Turn. (dc 62)

Round3- ch2 don’t count, *dc in the next 3 sts, 2 dc into next st*, Repeat from * to * across,

Turn. (dc 77)

Round- ch2 don’t count, *dc in the next 4 sts, 2 dc into next st*, Repeat from * to * across,

Turn. (dc 92)

Round5- ch2 don’t count, *dc in the next 5 sts, 2 dc into next st*, Repeat from * to * across,

Turn. (dc 107)

Round6- ch2 don’t count, *dc in the next 6 sts, 2 dc into next st*, Repeat from * to * across,

Turn. (dc 122)

Round7- ch2 don’t count, *dc in the next 7 sts, 2 dc into next st*, Repeat from * to * across,

Turn. (dc 137)

Make Ruffles:

Ruffle Row1- ch2 don’t count, dc into same st, *2 dc in each st across*, at the end, dc into

last st, turn

Ruffle Row2- ch2 don’t count, dc into same st, *2 dc in each st across*, at the end, dc into

last st, fasten off

now start working under ruffles in the round 7 dc sts,

Round8- rejoin in the round 7 dc st under ruffle, make ch2 don’t count, dc in each st across,

Turn. (dc 137)

Round9- ch2 don’t count, *dc in the next 8 sts, 2 dc into next st*, Repeat from * to * across,

Turn.  (dc 152)

Next round divide for armhole.

22 front panel, 32 sleeve, 44 back panel, 32 for 2nd sleeve, 22 for 2nd front panel.

Round10- (front panel) ch2 don’t count, dc in each 22 sts, ch2, leave/skip 32 dc for sleeve,

dc in the next 44 dc for back panel,ch2, leave /skip 32 dc for 2nd sleeve, make dc in the next

22 sts for front panel, turn. (we have both fronts and back panel total 92 stitches)

Start pattern skirt:

Round1- ch2 don’t count, dc into same st, *skip next 2 dc, make shell (1dc, ch2, 3dc) next st*,

Repeat form * to * across till end, dc into last st, turn. (we have 29 shells)

Round2- ch2 don’t count, dc into same st, *make shell (dc, ch2, 3dc) into next middle of

previous round shell ch2 space*, Repeat from * to * across till end, make dc into last dc, turn.

(we have 29 shells)

Round3-10: Repeat and follow Round 2 of skirt.

Change color B:

Round11-14: Repeat and follow Round 2 of skirt.

Change main color:

Round15-16: Repeat and follow Round 2 of skirt. Fasten off

Measurement form underarm- 9-10 inches/ 24-25 cm

Make button Band Left Front:

Round1- rejoins yarn into corner neck top to down, make sc in each st edging front band

Across till end, turn. (42 sc)

Row2-3: ch1 don’t count, make sc in each st across the band, turn, (42 sc). Fasten off

Make Buttonhole Band Right Front:

Row1- Rejoin yarn into corner st from down to top, make sc in each st edging front band

across till end, turn. (42 sc)

Row2- ch1 don’t count, make sc in each next 2 sts, *make ch1, skip next st for buttonhole,

Make sc in each next 9 sts*, repeat from * to * across till end, Turn work.

We have 4 buttonholes in Row 2.

Row3- ch1 don’t count, make sc in each st, 1sc into ch1 space of middle buttonhole, follow

same pattern across till end, (42 sc). Fasten off

Make sleeves:

Round1- under arm rejoins yarn into middle st, ch2, make dc together post of next dc, then

Make Dc in each st around armhole dc 32 sts, at the end make dc together post of dc,

slip st to join into ch2. (dc 34)

Change color B:

Round2- ch2 don’t count, make dc in each next 34 dc sts around, do slip st into ch2.(dc 34)

Change color A:

Round3- Repeat and follow Round 2 sleeve. (dc 34)

Round4-16: Repeat and follow Round 2 sleeve. (dc 34)

Change color for every row of pattern sleeve.

Measurement form underarm- 8 inches/ 20 cm

Make sleeve cuffs:

Row1- ch1 don’t count, *make sc next st, sc 2 together next 2 sts*, repeat form * to *

Around, do slip st. (sc 23)

Row2- ch1 don’t count, make sc in each st around, do slip st. (sc 23)

Row3-5: Repeat and follow sleeve cuffs Row 2. Fasten off

  1. I’ve tried countless times and I can’t get the stitch count you have all the way through. Are all the numbers correct on here??
