Crochet Hexagon Cardigan Tutorial/ Granny Sweater Top for X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, XL Sizes

A hexagon crochet cardigan is a simple yet truly beautiful piece of clothing that stands out with its unique shape and soft, cozy feel. Its special hexagon design gives it a graceful and eye-catching look, making it different from ordinary cardigans.

It feels warm and comfortable to wear, perfect for all ages and seasons. Because it is handmade, every stitch reflects care, creativity, and love, adding a personal touch to the garment. The choice of lovely colors and soft yarns makes it even more charming and attractive. One of the most wonderful things about this cardigan is that it can be easily customized, allowing each piece to become a unique and delightful creation full of beauty and style.

A hexagon crochet cardigan is a beginner-friendly and stylish project made by crocheting two large hexagon shapes that are later folded and joined to form the sleeves and body of the cardigan. Each hexagon is worked outward in rounds, typically using basic stitches like double crochet, with increases placed at the six corners to maintain the hexagonal shape. As the piece grows, it naturally begins to drape and fold, creating a relaxed, oversized fit when worn. Once both hexagons are complete, they are folded in half to form L-shaped panels, then sewn together along the back and shoulders, leaving openings for the sleeves and armholes. Additional rows can be added to lengthen the body or sleeves, and finishing touches like ribbed cuffs, a border, or edging around the front opening can be customized to suit personal style. This pattern is popular for its simplicity, versatility in yarn choices, and the satisfying construction process that transforms flat shapes into a cozy, wearable garment.

Pattern Notes

  • Pattern written in US terms.
  • Hexagons will look “ruffled” and not lay flat. This is correct.
  • To achieve the cardigan’s striped look, separate the yarn colors by rolling each color from the skein into a smaller ball. Then, use a different color for each round to create a unique cardigan all your own!
  • Ch 3 counts as a dc. Optionally, use standing dc to attach new yarn.
  • Pattern is worked in joined rounds without turning unless otherwise indicated. Each round will be worked on the right side.
  • Change Color: Attach new yarn color with a sl st into ch-2 space directly BEFORE beginning Ch 3 of each round.
  • Create your last cluster in the same ch-2 space as the beginning cluster.
  • Keep stitch markers placed in Row 1 for adding Width and Length section in same stitch until after shoulder seaming. The marker designates where the seam will end.

Construction Overview

1.    Crochet 2 hexagons for the main body of the cardigan.

2.   Crochet additional rows along three sides: center back, bottom, and center front     sides.

3.    Seam the center back and shoulders.

4.    Crochet additional rounds to extend the sleeves.

5.    Add crochet ribbing in the sleeves cuffs.

⭐ Free Pattern Baby Crochet

Top-down Raglan Crochet Baby Sweater/ Round neck sweater for baby boys & girls

A top-down raglan crochet baby sweater is a simple and beginner-friendly project because it is worked from the neckline down to the body, allowing the sweater to grow in size as you crochet. The pattern usually begins with a foundation chain that forms the neck opening, which is then joined to work in rounds. After the first round, the stitches are divided into four sections: two sleeves, the front, and the back, with stitch markers placed between each section to mark the raglan lines. In every few rounds, increases are made at the raglan corners (usually by working 3 stitches make in the same space) so the sweater gradually widens to fit the baby’s shoulders and chest. The yoke continues to grow until it reaches the underarm area. At that point, the sleeve stitches are separated and placed on hold, and the front and back stitches are joined to crochet the body in continuous rounds or rows until the desired length is reached

Crochet Easy Baby Onesies for beginners/ Baby Romper for Boys & Girls

Hello! Today topic is my new project Hooded crochet baby Onesie tutorial with free pattern size 3-6 months. The pattern typically begins from top to down Raglan Style. the piece continues top to downward in one section opening with button bands making it easy for beginners to follow. Shaping for the sleeves cuffs  and both leg cuffs is done by decreasing stitches. Some designs include shoulder straps with button closures, while others feature a front or back button band for easy dressing. Ribbing around the leg openings and neckline can be added using front and back post stitches or simple single crochet edging for a neat finish.

I have a lot of fun to crochet this Hood onesie, new design crocheting with beautiful pattern crochet front post puff stitches and normal double crochet. The pattern can be adjusted for different sizes such as newborn, 0–3 months, and 3–6 months and more larger sizes by increasing the starting chains in the neck and adding extra rows to the body length. Soft pastel colors, stripes, or solid shades all look beautiful in this design. This crochet baby onesie is perfect for baby showers, photography outfits, or everyday wear, and because it is made with basic stitches and my favourite alpine stitches pattern, it is a relaxing and quick project that creates a practical handmade gift.
