today i will show you my latest crochet potli bag/ draw string pouch,  free size, but you can easily to change sizes smaller of bigger. very easy pattern we explain in details about 3 sizes small, medium and large free patterns with video tutorial step by step.

Items to be need:

wool: 2 colors 100 Grams DK Weight  #4 yarn OR Medium Weight 4ply (16-20 = 4 inches)

Crochet hook size:  3.5mm (E-4) 

Size:      Small, Medium & Large

Gauge Pattern:  4 double crochet stitches x 2 Rows = 1 inch

US TERMS ABBREVIATIONS:

c.         crochet

ch.       chain

sc        single crochet

hdc      half double crochet

dc.       double crochet

sts.      stitches

st.        stitch

slst.     slip stitch

FPdc.  Front Post double crochet

BPdc.  Back post double crochet

 Pattern for gauge:  

Small Size = Width 7 inches/ Height 9 inches

Medium sizes  = Width 8 inches/ Height 10 inches

Length Large sizes  = Width 9 inches/ Height 11 inches

DIY potli bag drawstring:

Small/ Medium & Large Sizes:

Color A:

Small: Make chains 28.

Row1- dc into 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across, 3 dc into last st,

Work in opposite side, dc in each st across, dc into last st,

do slip st into beginning 3rd ch.

Row2- ch2 don’t count, dc in each st around, do slip st into 1st dc.

Color B:

Row3- ch2 don’t count, dc in each st around, do slip st into 1st dc.

Row4- ch2 don’t count, dc into same st, *make FP dc into next dc, 1 dc

Into next dc*, Repeat from * to * around, do slip st into 1sc dc.

Row5-16- Repeat and follow pattern Row 2 & Row 3. Change color for every 2 Rows.

Color A:

Row17- ch2 don’t count, dc in each st around, do slip st into 1st dc.

Make edging Bag:

Work: ch1 don’t count, sc into same st, *skip next 2 sts, make shell (5dc) into next st,

Skip next 2 sts, make sc into next st*, Repeat from * to * around, do slip st into sc. 

Fasten off

Make Tie Lace:

Work: make chains 5, slip st into 1st ch to make circle, *sc, 3dc* Repeat 5 times

In the circle, make chains 80, slip st into 5th from the hook, then repeat * to * 5 times

In the circle. Then do slip st in each ch across till end of other side. Fasten off

Weave ends.

Finishing: Thread the tie along the dc round of the bag. Go over an under 2 dc st at time.

Your crochet bag is complete!


Medium Size:

Color A:

Medium: Make chains 32.

Row1- dc into 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across, 3 dc into last st,

Work in opposite side, dc in each st across, dc into last st,

do slip st into beginning 3rd ch.

Row2- ch2 don’t count, dc in each st around, do slip st into 1st dc.

Color B:

Row3- ch2 don’t count, dc in each st around, do slip st into 1st dc.

Row4- ch2 don’t count, dc into same st, *make FP dc into next dc, 1 dc

Into next dc*, Repeat from * to * around, do slip st into 1sc dc.

Row5-18- Repeat and follow pattern Row 2 & Row 3. Change color for every 2 Rows.

Color B:

Row19- ch2 don’t count, dc in each st around, do slip st into 1st dc.

Make edging Bag:

Work: ch1 don’t count, sc into same st, *skip next 2 sts, make shell (5dc) into next st,

Skip next 2 sts, make sc into next st*, Repeat from * to * around, do slip st into sc. 

Fasten off

Make Tie Lace:

Work: make chains 5, slip st into 1st ch to make circle, *sc, 3dc* Repeat 5 times

Row4- ch2 don’t count, dc into same st, *make FP dc into next dc, 1 dc

Into next dc*, Repeat from * to * around, do slip st into 1sc dc.

Row5-20- Repeat and follow pattern Row 2 & Row 3. Change color for every 2 Rows.

Color A:

Row21- ch2 don’t count, dc in each st around, do slip st into 1st dc.

Make edging Bag:

Work: ch1 don’t count, sc into same st, *skip next 2 sts, make shell (5dc) into next st,

Skip next 2 sts, make sc into next st*, Repeat from * to * around, do slip st into sc. 

Fasten off
