Today we are making a new stylish baby flat booties shoes pattern. These booties are crocheted in sizes from 0–3 months up to 2 years. In the pattern below, we explain the different sizes in detail, and we also cover all sizes step by step in my video tutorial — so be sure to watch the full video for complete instructions.

Baby Booties Free Pattern
Crochet baby booties are one of the
sweetest and most useful handmade gifts for little ones. They not only keep thier
tiny feet warm and cozy but also add an adorable touch to their matching
handmade outfit. A free crochet pattern for baby booties is usually designed in
simple steps, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced crocheters.
Most patterns are worked in rounds, starting with the sole and then building up
the sides and ankle section. Depending on the style, they can look like little
shoes, slippers, sneakers, or even boots.
A basic size bootie usually
measures about 3.5–4 inches in length. You can adjust the hook size smaller or
bigger and yarn thickness to make desire sizes (like 3–6 months or 6–12
months). The yarn commonly used is soft baby-friendly acrylic or cotton yarn
because it’s gentle on sensitive skin and easy to wash. A 3.5 mm–4 mm crochet
hook works well for most patterns.
The free pattern often begins with:
- Sole:
Made with chains and double crochets (US terms) or trebles (UK terms).
This part is worked in an oval shape by crocheting around the foundation
chain.
- Sides of Booties:
After finishing the sole, stitches are worked in around the sole to give a
neat edge and begin forming the walls of the bootie.
- Upper Section:
Decreases are added in the front part of the bootie to shape the toe area.
Some patterns also add decorative stitches like shells or puff stitches.
- Ankle & Cuff:
Can be worked in single crochet, ribbing, or a fold-over cuff style. You
can also add buttons, straps, or ties for extra charm.
✨ Styling Ideas:
- Add a cute ribbon bow or small button on the side.
- Make them look like sneakers with white soles and
colorful tops.
- Create bootie “boots” with tall ribbed cuffs for
winter.
Since this is a free pattern style, you’ll often find charts, step-by-step instructions, or even video tutorials online that guide you through each row. These are beginner-friendly projects that usually take only 1–2 hours to complete a pair.
