Free Crochet Poncho Patterns You’ll Love - The Rancher Poncho

Hello Friends and Followers! Today topic is my new project for summer or mid crochet toddlers g Poncho/capshawl pattern, we have done and completed new design for mid and summer seasons. beautiufl poncho free pattern with  tutorial. i hope you will love and apperciate my new design for childrens and toddlers . explain in details in the pattern below,showing with the  same in my video tutorial. .
the rancher poncho you can change easily in other sizes,  you can make it with different colors according to your choice larger or smaller sizes for kids and girls also can chage for adult ladies and womans. we explain below in my pattern for all sizes as you want make, we mention about for all sizes in my video tutorial to give you most easier to understand the pattern. hope you would like my previous post and video tuorial poncho/capshawl 

instrutions: We used different colors Light weight #3 yarn /light DK weight 3ply with 3.5mm
(E-4) crochet hook for the project of this toddlers poncho pattern, Size of the poncho is small or medium girls, we mention below in the pattern more sizes. we add new and beautiful stitch for the pattern, it’s very easy so beautiful pattern to start from down to top, we mention below about all sizes, next Project will come another super crochet patterns. so, you can follow my other crochet ideas we mention the links below.

Item to be need:

we will need 350 Grams #3 light Weight or light DK weight wool 3 Ply(5 stitches = 1 inch) 

Hook size 3.5mm (E-4)

Size:    Girls/Toddlers: X-Small and Small sizes poncho pattern 

Pattern Gauge:  5 double crochet stitches x 2 Rows = 1 inch with Hook size 3.5mm (E-4)

poncho length from shoulder to bottom : 22-23 inches / 56-58 cm

width poncho from corner to corner is- 28-30 inches/ 71-72 cm


US Terms ABBREVIATIONS:

Note: follow size chart for changing crochet poncho- Rancher Poncho Pattern

 Toddler kids sizes- 130+2 = 132

X-Small & Small sizes- 138+2 = 140

Medium sizes- 186+2 = 188

Large sizes- 202+2 = 204

Pattern X-Small & Small sizes: 

make chains 140 chains

Round1- dc into 4th ch from the hook, dc in each ch across, turn. (dc 138)

Round2- ch2 don’t count, make dc into same st, skip next 3 sts, make a shell (6dc)

Into next st, *ch1, skip next 3 sts, sc next st, ch1, skip next 3 sts, make shell (6dc) next

St*, repeat from * to * across,  at the end  make ch1, skip next 3 sts, dc into last st, turn.

We have pattern 17 shells.

Round3- ch3 don’t count, make treble crochet into same st, *make back post treble crochet

Into 3 dc of shell, ch2, make treble crochet into next 3 dc of shell*, repeat from * to * across

Till end, make 1 treble crochet into last st, turn. We have treble 17 shells

Round4- ch2 don’t count, make dc into same st, *ch1, make shell (6dc) into middle of ch2-space

Of shell, ch1, make a sc into middle between two shells*, repeat from * to * across till end,

Make a dc into last st, turn. We have 17 shells.

Round5- 43: Repeat and follow Round 3 & Round 4 of the pattern.

From 1st round measurement Approx- 22-23 inches/ 56-58 cm

Now next round we will make neck shape.

Neckline Shaping:

Make 6 shells, skip 5 shells for neck, and make 6 shells.

Round44- ch3 don’t count, make treble crochet into same st, *make back post treble crochet

Into 3 dc of shell, ch2, make treble crochet into next 3 dc of shell*, repeat from * to * across

6 times, skip 5 shells, make chains 41 for neck shape, then repeat from * to * across next

6 shells, at the end make 1 treble crochet into last st turn.

Round45: ch2 don’t count, make dc into same st, *ch1, make shell (6dc) into middle of ch2-space

Of shell, ch1, make a sc into middle between two shells*, repeat from * to * across 6 times,

Now continue work make shells into next 41 chains and follow the pattern 5 times [make sc into 

next ch,Ch1, skip next 3 chains, make shell (6 dc) next ch], then continue from * to * across next 

6 times as we did other side of shoulder, at the end make a dc into last st, turn work. 

We have 17 shells pattern

From Round 46 in the back panel Repeat and follow pattern 2 rounds (Round 3 & Round 4)

as we did Front panel. Fasten off

Now make border and follow the pattern in the front panel and back panel of the poncho.

Make Border Lace:

Color A:

Row1- Right side facing you, rejoin yarn into first st, ch3 we count dc, *make shell into middle of

Shell, skip 3 dc of shell, make shell (3dc, ch2, 3dc), skip 3 dc of shell, and make a dc into sc st*,

Repeat from * to * across till end, make dc into last st, turn work. We have 17 shells.

Row2- ch3 we count dc, *make shell into next middle of shell ch2-space (3dc, ch2, 3dc),

Back post dc around next dc*, repeat from * to * across till end, make a dc into last st, turn.

We have 17 shells.

Row3- ch3 we count dc, *make shell into next middle of shell ch2-space (3dc, ch2, 3dc),

Front post dc around next front post*, repeat from * to * across till end, make a dc into last st,

turn. We have 17 shells.

Row4- ch3 we count dc, *make shell into next middle of shell ch2-space (3dc, ch2, 3dc),

Back post dc around next back post dc*, repeat from * to * across till end, make a dc into last st,

turn. We have 17 shells.

Row5- ch3 we count dc, *make shell into next middle of shell ch2-space (3dc, ch2, 3dc),

Front post dc around next front post*, repeat from * to * across till end, make a dc into last st,

turn. We have 17 shells.

Fasten off and repeat only one round as we the same pattern into both side edging of poncho.
